Larry was such an amazing Christian and I know that God looked at him and said, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."  I love Larry's music and in fact was able to make "Why don't you look into Jesus" into a ringtone on my phone (sorry if that's a copyright infringement and please don't sue me!) and so I have an unusual ringtone that piques the interest of those around when my phone rings.  It gives me a good opportunity to discuss the song and it's message.  Anyway, I pray that the Great Comforter helps Larry's family through this difficult time and helps us to remember, it's not goodbye, it's just "see you later."

Peace and Love through Christ Jesus,
Sarah

My thoughts and prayers are with you guys. It hurts me as a fan to know that Larry's gone.....how much more it must hurt for you his family who he was close to. I guess it's better for him because he's free from the sickness and pain, but for those of us left here there's now a void. In my opinion Larry was to Christian music what John Lennon was to the mainstream. Although he has passed away, his memory and influence will live on for many generations to come.

Thank you Larry for all that great music ... I saw you perform three times in Vancouver (once with Randy) and while the jokes about parrots were getting stale the music never did get stale !

Rest in peace now until we meet again .... He's the Rock that doesn't Roll !

AMEN TO THAT !

Hi from a Paddy living in the UK. I was in my early teens when someone gave me some of Larry's music. The quality and the spirituality of this music knocked me out, even as a 15 or 16 year old. I listened again to Six O'Clock News just a week or so ago, before I heard of Larry's death, and I wanted to say how it impacted me again.

A life less ordinary - ups and downs, and some wonderful 'Lion's Breath' moments, captured for us all on record.

Larry is where he has been called to be. And so, blessings and love to you closest to him who are left behind (but only for now).

A spark that got a great fire started - from India to the USA
Permalink

I cannot even begin to express the way larry's music and message impacted my life. I came to Chist while still in India and started a rock band that did songs related to the Christian walk. I was deeply inspired by one of Larry's classics - The Great American Novel - and I took the liberty of making it relevant to my society. So was born "The Great Indian Novel" - same tune, same bridge, modified verses. We sang that on India's Independence Day (Aug 15) celebration in 1997 and never again. it was also the last concert our band played in. I think it did the work that needed to be done that evening. We also did covers of UFO, Rock that doesn't Roll, and  I wish we'd all been ready.  These songs touched a fringe sub-group of Indian youth that may never have heard the Gospel.

Its been over a decade since I moved to the US - always hoping that I would catch Larrry on tour on the East coast. But he never camesmile.gif. So I just continued buying his CDs and DVDs smile.gif from Solid Rock. I will miss Larry's wit and no-nonsense style of communicating God's love through music and song. He truly has been an inspration - almost sort of a mentor. My deepest sympathies to the Norman family. Parting with loved ones in Christ is such sweet sorrow - sorrow because we will miss him, sweet because he is finally Home.

LOVE,

Ever since I became a believer in 1981 Larry Norman's music and testimony have been a blessing to me. He truly is the father of Christian Rock and Roll and he inspired many of my other favorite artists. I sing and play his songs to my children. I am playing his music in the background as I write this. I do not weep for him, for I know he is with our Messiah Jesus.

I do feel an overwhelming sadness for you, his family. I know he will be missed greatly.

For me, he will be remembered for his bold, pioneering, and awesome music. My children will remember him as an artist their father loved, and although they are young, they are coming to love him as well.

I just found out about the death of Larry today (from another blog).

My thoughts and prayers are with Larry's family.

Larry's music has always had a great influence on me. It's the first "Christian" music I ever heard that I actually liked, and on my first date with my wife, we had a Larry Norman tape playing in the car...

I saw Larry twice in Toronto - even by himself (no band) he was a great entertainer.

I am now a missionary in Ukraine, and yesterday as I was painting the kitchen in our house I had Larry's music playing.

Larry, Thank You!

Larry Norman was a huge influence on my early Christianlife in the early 80s. My brother and I were greatly encouraged by his music.  I met him once in a tiny bookshop in Pitt St Sydney.  I'm so shocked and sad to hear of his death but knowing he's with Jesus is the comfort.  May Jesus be your peace.

Larry was how God made him and was real and that is what I loved.  I'm challenged to encourage others you never know how much that means.

Larry was always a breath of fresh air. I first saw him in Liverpool when I was about 16 (I'm 50 now!) and he was an inspiration thereafter.

He showed how you need to be yourself. He was an artist. A free thinker. A pioneer. Larry knew, understood and lived the Christian faith - not trying to be 'nice', not trying to become bland, not trying to fit in with a denomination, not seeking approval from others, but as a genuine follower of the Christian faith who took his lead from the teachings, life, and presence of Jesus Christ.

Nice one Larry - you paved the way, broke new ground, the Larryiness of Larry certainly shone brightly.

In a stifling, claustrophobicglobalised, consumerist, narrow (blessing + healing + worship) and self centred expression of 'christianity' it was great to have Larry presenting the true Christian faith. He certainly encouraged me and will continue to do so.

Good doesn't die it lives forever!

In 1973 I went from having tickets to the group "Badfinger" (I was unsaved), to thoroughly being blessed by a concert with "The Hawaiians" a husband/wife couple who played the autoharp (saved). My life had taken a 180 degree turn around once I met Jesus Christ. I thought my rock'n'roll days were over.... then... I found Larry Norman. Man, what a great singer/songwriter/humbler Christian! I bought everything he had available at the time, which, I believe was all of 3 albums. Larry's music was such a Godsend...(still is). I only got to see him in concert once but it was an amazing night. I look forward to many amazine days (there are no nights in heaven) of listening to Larry sing, play and write amazing new songs for an eternity.  Maybe he'll write a new "The Tune" and this time it will be about 40 days long! Anyway.. miss you Larry, but just for a short time.  Can we jam when I see you there?!!!!

I am so sad.  I know that Larry is with his Good Friend and that we will see them soon enough.  But still I am sad.

I just found out today.  Last night I was lying in bed thinking that going out to Oregon to help somehow should be my top priority.

I am baffled why such a thought would come to the forefront two weeks after Larry's passing.

To me, Larry was a lyrical Apostle Paul.  Complete with a personal affliction.  His music changed the way I looked at life.

Our Lord Jesus Christ has used Larry as weapon against the forces of evil and has rendered damage which the devil cannot repair.

I know that Larry is happy and feels great, in fact, perfect.  Nonetheless, we cannot help being sad,  but  we  glory  in  his victory.

May the Peace of Our God be with Larry family and loved ones.

To Larry's family and loved ones:

I am having a hard time finding the words to express to you how deeply I share your sense of loss.  I met Larry after several concerts in Iowa in the mid to late 70's.  I was a young Christian, but very on fire.  Saved on a "Saul on the road to Damascus" experience at the age of 15, I hungered for a mentor and teacher that was real.  I found that in Larry.  Not just in the music and lyrics, but in the conversations we had after the concerts (sometimes talking for an hour or two).   The truths that he shared with me became foundational stones in my life.  He was, for me, not just a teacher, but a "father in the faith".   I know that had Larry not so willingly gave of himself, spent time talking and answering my questions when he was hot and hungry and tired from preforming....well, I know I would have eventually found the Christainity expressed here in the states (I call it "churchanity) empty.  I would have eventually walked away.

We met up again in 1980, in Houston, after I had married a Texan.  Struggling with our own marriage, Larry invited my husband and I up to his hotel room.  We spent the next two hours discussing the "ins and outs" of marriage.  Again, this 'father' of mine laid foundational stones in our life.  Those stones have held true. We will celebrate our 30th anniversary this year....and we love each other more today than when we began this journey.

The last time we saw Larry was in 1981...again in Houston.  While the year before, Larry had shared privately about his divorce from Pam, this was the first concert that he spoke about it publically.  And though he suffered from the tragedy of divorce twice, we knew his heart on the subject...we knew what he believed.  And we never stopped praying for him, though we never met again.

I miss Larry very much...I know you do too.  Losing my earthly father at this same time last year...and now losing my father in the faith, I feel like an orphan in this world.  Yet my heart, like yours, is comforted in knowing that he has joined our great cloud of witnesses...he is there cheering us on, interceding for us.  When my turn comes to cross the Jordan, my father will be there...and we will rock out in praise to our Savior.

My thoughts and prayers are with you daily...in Larry's honor...carry on.

Goodbye, farewell, we will meet again
Somewhere beyond the sky
Until then, I will stay true to God
Goodbye, my father, goodbye

in Him
Kay Ivey

I remember singing the Great American Novel at the top of my lungs to my mom in the early to mid '70's.  It always made her so mad!  It still brings a big grin to my face just thinking about it.  Maybe Larry is giving her her own concert......Much Bigger Grin.

I love Larry.  Always have.  Always will.

Dear Margaret, Michael, Charles, Kristin, Christy and all the Norman Family,

Back in the mid to late 80's I had the great privilege of organising Larry's concert here in Canberra, with the help of my two sons.  We three were so impressed with Larry, his music, Charles, and Jon Linn and we had a great time.  It was our privilege to remain friends and I thank Margaret and Larry for the fantastic time we were able to have together in Salem OR back in 2000.

As for Larry's music, it was, and is, God-inspired.  We did not idolise Larry as that is not what he was about, but we loved him, respected and admired him, as we do with all the Norman family and the Solid Rock family.

To all of you, what we have lost, Heaven has gained and I like to visualise Larry "jamming" away with my late son.

For your grief we are so sorry, but Larry was and still is the best thing that every happened to Christian music and his memory and music will last forever.

Please accept our love and we ask for all the Blessings of the Lord to be on each and every one of you.

With much love to you all,
Sandy & Family, Canberra, Australia.

Hi,

I am writing this from Wellington, New Zealand.
Larry's music was used of the Lord over here, and still is.

I pray that you will be comforted in the knowledge that Larry has left the Body of Christ with a legacy, the reverberations of which are eternal, which are still having a positive impact on lives in this earthly realm.

These messages represent a portion of the impact of the Lord Jesus Christ, through Larry, and one day the full impact will be known.

May you be overwhelmed with Christ's Love, both now and always.
Andrew

I first heard Larry's music, 31 years ago, when I was 18 years old and still a relatively young Christian. The music, the lyrics, the passion and zeal that Larry had for proclaiming the truth of the Gospel in a powerful and radical way were used by God in my life in a profound way. That impact still resonates today through the ministry the Lord has given me.
I have always had the greatest respect and admiration of Larry, and it was with sadness that I read today of Larry's death, but I have no doubts that he will be in heaven and as already been posted, he will have heard those treasured words 'well done, thou good and faithful servant!'
I also had the privilige to see Larry perform live on the 'Friends on Tour' tour and I do have the album of the tour, although it doesn't convey the great night we were treated to at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester, England in 1981.
I pray for Larry's family and all who are feeling his loss and may they know the comfort of the Jesus's arms around them as Larry would have had them embrace him when he arrived Home.

"....And i'm happy now, but when this good life ends i know a better life begins..."  - (Larry Norman, from "song for a small circle of friends")

I'm very sorry to hear Larry has past away, my thoughts go out to you, his family, and i wish you the strength to deal with this loss.

I'm sure he now is with his Lord and Saviour he sang about all his life.

I've seen Larry perform, twice, in Holland in the early nineties.
He was a very talented artist, and he owes our respect because he used his talent to share his beliefs.
He choose to sing for Jesus and not for his own fame.

but i also remember him a someone who had a great sense of humour, on stage as well as in his songs.

I walked in the foyer of the bomb scared Belfast venue of one of Larry's many concerts there and met Larry standing in the hallway, waiting to go on stage. I shook his hand and thanked him for leading me to Christ earlier that year. He smiled and I found my seat to be blessed by another musical ministry.

See you later brother

Hello Charles, and family,

I just learned of Larry's passing. I send you my deepest sympathy.
I knew Larry when we were teenagers, he use to come to my home in Redding when he was in the band The People. He, Gene Mason and Robby Levin would stay at my home with my family many times. I loved taking care of them during those wonderful special times. Larry was a very special friend to me, and my younger sister Dee. We loved him like a brother.

I saw him last in 1993, he invited me up to LA to visit. He was just as special and a loving friend and brother then after years of not seeing him. It was like I had just seen him only a week before, like no time had gone by at all. He met my two young daughters, Lauren and Christie, and he made a lasting impression of how Jesus loves them and me, and we will be ok. He really cared about me at a time when I was going through a terrible trails and he helped me to restore my faith in Jesus and in myself as well.

When he lived in San Jose in the big white house that was turned into 4 apartments, and he lived on the bottom floor and a friend of his, I think her name was Janet Roach, I could be wrong on the name. It was just before he lost his finger. Anyway, we were sitting out on the front lawn, that must have been in 1966 or 67, and we were talking about God and what life was about, I told him that I believed in God and Jesus Christ, and I was seeking Him, we had a lovely lengthy conversation that I think led us both into seriously seeking a real relationship with Christ. I moved to Reno after that, and lost contact with him. Then in 1972 I was in England and saw a display in a store window of him with his new album 'Just Visiting this Planet'. I was so excited for him, that he found Jesus and that the Lord had blessed him with his music praising Him and bringing others to know Him.

I am very sad that I didn't get to see him again after 1993. I did occasionally get some word on him now and then from my sister. Then she lost contact too in recent years. My husband was very jealous of Larry, for no justifiable reason, and he did not allow me to have any contact with him. Now my husand and I are separated. Larry warned me back in 1993 that this was not a good man to marry and Larry tried to advise me to not make that mistake. I wish I had listened and been able to take Larry's advise. Larry had some kind of special insight, he was truely Blessed by the Lord Jesus. I miss Larry so very much, and feel so sad that I couldn't keep contact with him through all these years, and now he is gone and I won't see him and know that sincere love that he so sweetly gave as a brother in the Lord until I see him in heaven.
Larry was a blessing to me and I treasurer Larry in my heart, and I know I will see him in Heaven when it is my time to go and be with the Lord too.

Again my sincere loving sympathies to you all,
Sincerely,
Gae Lawree

I was saddened to hear the news (only today) of Larry's passing. Of course, I loved his music, of course he inspired me but he did more than that.  He emboldened me to speak my faith, he taught me that followers of Jesus didn't have to look a certain way or sound a certain way (which helped - since i was always an outsider in the church). I grieve the family's loss and send my well wishes.  Today, I pastor a church and share the love of Christ that Larry shared with me!

Blessings,

Jamey Stuart

I didn't grow up listening to Larry Norman, it wasn't until the late 90's that I was playing with The Gathering at St. Andrew's in Pearland, Texas, that my friend (now my wife) introduced me to Larry's music.  She taught me He's the Rock that doesn't Roll.  Myrna, who was raised the daughter of an AG missionary on the Navajo Reservation, told me Larry's music along with Glenn Kaiser and Kemper Crabb, had really reached and saved her. I will let her tell her story later.
We were web surfing the weekend after Larry passed and were shocked to learn of his death. We have been listening and re-discovering his music every since... I am amazed at how versatile his music is and how clear and to the point his lyrics are.  I hear Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, the Beatles, and so many others in the style (or is it just that I hear the late 60's and 70's), but even more  I hear Jesus Christ in his lyrics.  I am blessed by the music and saddened at his passing, but in listening to him,  I know he was just visiting this planet and is now home.

God's Peace to you all

Larry played such a big role in the life of my family.  He was my dad's favorite musician.  One of my first memories is being 3 or 4 and falling asleep at a Larry Norman concert.  And I'll always remember how excited I and all my group of friends were when Larry played at Creation in the late '90s.  Larry, we'll miss you!

May the angels lead you into Paradise
And when you come may the martyrs receive you
And lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem.
May a choir of angels receive you,
And with Lazarus, once a pauper,
May you have eternal rest.

I knew Larry during my adolescence and was a time that I was looking new ways to praise the Lord, and I really found what I was looking for with his music, and since I love rock and roll that was just great !
In my country, Brazil, in that time, the glorious 70ths, was very hard to find an album or any kind of tapes from USA, and with my friends there, in America, was the only way to get somethig . Even now it is not that easy to find an Larry Norman's CD here, and this is a pity and a shame. Thankfully we have the internet nowadays !

Now I'm a professional opera singer , but still love rock, and still love to listen Larry singing and praising our Savior an Lord Jesus Christ.

I knew sometime ago about the Larry's illness
and I got very sad about it, even knowing that Our Lord is powerfull to heal, but nothing is compared with the noticeof its death. This is a great loss. The great difference is that we know where he is and that we will meet again, and then I'll know him personally !
I almost can see him praising the Lord, with his beautifull blond and long hair and his guitar, in His glorious presence ! Aleluia !

May our Lord and Savior Jesus confort the hearts of his family and friends.

In Christ,

He made a huge difference in my life when I was a mixed up kid.  He made Jesus real.  I only saw him in person 1 time at Calvary Chapel in Costa Mesa.  After he and his wife where strolling through the Calvary bookstore, with his flat long blonde hair.  As a relatively new Christian, I was in total awe.  The Beatles could have been there and it would not have been as amazing to me.   I am now 55 years old.  I am the director of psychology for a Christian treatment center for anorexia and bulimia.  I have used his music in chapels to touch a whole new generation.

Many of his songs have touched me, but the one that still moves me beyond words is -- I am a Servant. So many times - over so many years -- it has been a prayer for me...

How can you use me when I've never given all,
How can you choose me when you know I'd quickly fall.

So you feed my soul and you make me grow,
And you let me know you love me.
And I'm worthless now, but I've made a vow,
I will humbly bow before thee.
O please use me, I am lonely.

Larry will never be lonely -- and God heard his pray - and used him in an awesome way.

I don't know if others experienced this, haven't read all the posts. On the Thursday before Larry passed away, for some reason I couldn't get him out of my mind. I call myself a believer,as I am a poorexampleofa Christian and never have been properly baptized.

So, the daily sluggishness I experience with recovering from cancer might be making depressed. Started tryingto rememberwhat made me feel better.

When I was spreading the Word, talking a lot about Christ to others in the early '90s, and discovered The Crucified; their manager Tim Anderson kept corresponding with me. He mailed me some of Larry's tapes, with Mark Heard, and Randy Stonehill's "Welcome To Paradise".
That music really helped uplift me. I have always suffered with depression since being a teenager, and one of the things to get me charged up was music.
While I thought I was so happy to find Christian thrash like The Crucified and Vengeance Rising, and rock like Petra, it wasn't until I heard Larry Norman's albums from the early 70s, that depression would disappear.
His emotion and trueness dissolved whatever I was thinking of, and inspired me to read the Holy Bible, and try to live as Jesus would want me to be.
I've  cried numerous times when listening to "666" for example, because of the mess the world is in, and I could indentify with the loneliness and betrayal in that song.

When this nagging feeling about Larry was all I could think of, I decided to surf the internet on Monday morning, read about any news, and maybe download albums. That's when I learned of his passing away. I was shocked, than after learning more, and remembering I had read some time ago, he also was in poor health, it was sort of a relief that a good man like him didn't have to suffer anymore. It sounds like he was at peace and ready to go.

I want to be able to not worry like that when it's my time, and not have to worry where I will be in the afterlife.
He may be "gone", but Larry still speaks loud and clear through his recordings , a positive influence on many in the past and in the future. Just like one of the disciples from the New Testament.

Having heard from Larry's death just a week ago, I would like to say to his family how much Larry meant for both me and my wife. We're from the Netherlands and have been visiting many concerts Larry gave in our country during the years.  Larry's song "I'd wished we've all been ready" contributed to
my wife's being born again in the '70's. For me he was someone I could identify myself with. I 'll pray for his relatives and friends.

I grew up with Larry Norman as my greatest example of contemporary Christian music. I've been playing his songs over and over, covered them when playing in bands.
His songs have helped me stay close to Jesus through my teenage years.
I'm sorry he left this early, but I believe he's far better off now!

Thanks Larry!

I bought Only Visiting this Planet from a record store in downtown Sydney in the lat 70s or early 80s when is was about 16. I didn't know there was Christian rock music before that. I've had those songs with me ever since. I heard Larry live a couple of times when he toured Australia. He gave many a young Christian hope that our faith could make sense in our culture. Blees ya mate. See you on the other side one day. Our love to all your family and close friends. We'll be praying for you tonight.

I'm so moved by your post.  I Am A Servant has a special place for me as well.
I hadn't heard Larry in years back in '98, after my brother had died.  I bought the triology and had I Am A Servant on in my car...I had strayed so far away and felt still so greived.  The song moved me to tears with it's truth.  One of many times Larry was used to touch others.

Dear Michael,

I have been a fan of your Dad's music and ministry for 23 years. His passing is a huge loss to the body of Christ on the earth and I'm sure is a great gain to heaven. No doubt yours is the greatest loss.

Please know that my life was one who he touched through his recordings. His ministry will continue on the earth through his recordings and writings and through the lives he touched.

He truly transcended the genre of rock & roll and created music that was a tribute and a glory to his God and Savior, Jesus. What a blessing he was and will continue to be to all of us who enjoy listening to the gospel applied to the modern world by him in his songs. What a wonderful legacy.
May the God of comfort give grace to his family in their time of sorrow.
Brian

I first heard Larry Norman's music in the late 1970's while I was attending Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. Back then, there wasn't much Christian music worth listening to. I had the first two Petra Albums, "Awaiting Your Reply," "Sweet Comfort Band," "Love Song," "For Those Who Have Ears to Hear," the first two albums from 2nd Chapter of Acts, and of course, a couple of Norman albums: In Another Land and Upon this Rock.

I listened to those albums constantly, practically every day. I cannot express how much it meant to hear faith being proclaimed in an idiom I cared about, having grown up with Cream, Boston, and Kiss.

Eventually, I wound up with So Long Ago The Garden, Only Visiting This Planet, and the one live album he did with backing band.

I am grateful for the music he created and the faith that it expressed, however imperfect he and it may have been.

God bless you, Larry Norman. May you rest in peace and live eternally in glory.

I just heard of Larry's passing today.  I didn't even know he was sick.  I started listening to his music in 1974 - the same year I learned to play guitar.  I soon was playing a couple of his songs in church and for groups of brothers and sisters in Christ.  My favorite song by him was definitely "I Am A Servant."  He was truly a servant of Christ.

To the family: Be assured that my prayers are with you.  I pray that He will comfort you and give you peace.

Blessings,
Dave

Like many others, I have been deeply influenced by Larry's music. I have had the opportunity to perform his songs of Jesus worldwide. Larry was one of a kind, and will be missed.

Me, my best mate and brother went to see the guy whose music inspired us to walk right with Jesus when he came to England to play in Waterlooville. It was a privilege to see him play. We were sad when we found out of Larry's passing, but there will have been a terrific welcome for him I'm sure as he walked through the gates. Praise the Lord for Larry.

Charles and Family

I am so sorry to hear of Larry's passing.  Like many who have written here he had a profound influence on me musically and spiritually.  I had the privelige of seeing him a number of times in Australia and always gave so much of himself and his love and faith in Jesus, even when he was obviously struggling with his health.  His music gave us a way of expressing ourselves when we were young and growing up in a small town in Australia in the early seventies.  He inspired me and many others to share out faith and lives through music.  It is hard to imagine now but there was literally no-one else playing rock music with a christian message we could get to listen to.  I still play some of his songs at gigs and I owe him so much.  I pray our Lord will comfort you and you will find strength in Him and your friends and all of us around the world who know how much you loved and cared for him.  David Welch, Moe South, Victoria, Australia.

I came in touch with the message and music from Larry at an age of 12 in 1980, and he really changed my way of thinking. The clear message of Jesus Christ presented in a way that my young mind could grasp was rocking my world. When i also got the opportunity to visit a concert in the northern part of my country about year 2000 a long time wished for experience was fulfilled. Larry died at such a young age but still he had a long and fruitfull life, blessed by the lord and a blessing for so many others. I thank the Lord for Larry, for the blessings and for the music he brought to us. God bless you all that miss Larry today and thank God for that we all will meet him again, rockin' in front of the throne with Jesus in the center of all worship.
In Christ; Erik Laakso, Sweden.

As a Christian teenager growing up in the 70s I cannot describe well enough the thrill of discovering Larry´s music. Why Should The Devil Have All the Good Music was almost a theme song for me. His music was and is an inspiration to me. Now I am in Costa Rica at language school preparing for ministry with youth in Latin America where I will remind young people that Jesus has good music.

I appreciated Larry's music growing up, and still find myself singing his songs. He was a breath of fresh air! May the God of all comfort be with you.

i spent many years as far away from God as possible as a Gangster/mercenary, but one constant reminder of my upbringing was the music of Larry Norman it was always with me, it kept me aware of what Jesus had done for me and when i eventually returned to the fold it stayed with me.

What a blessing Larry was for so many people i know he now has his wish to play in the heavenly band. we all need to pick up the mantle from where he left it and continue his ministry.

Larry's Inspiration

Friends:
I just picked up the June 1989 CCM with Larry on the cover. It was in a stack of job search notebooks. I'm trying to remember where I was and where the years have gone. Although I can't account for all my time, I know that I have been in Christ. I know Larry Norman and Kieth Green and many others have challenged and inspired me (from the time I was about thirteen). I still have my parents Evangelism Explosion Album recorded at Explo'72. It has Larry's "Sweet Song of Salvation" and Randy Stonehill's "Didn't He?" on it. Well, it is time to go to work again, but I'll be thinking about all we owe to those that have gone before us.
Love,
Jeff

I just heard the news today. I am sad for myself but I know Heaven is a happier place. I first saw Larry play Belfast in the Shankill Leisure Centre, Belfast on the Stop This Flight tour when a young Charlie played in the band. I was blown away!! I saw Larry again several times and had the privilige to talk and pray with him in the Fisherwick Buildings, Belfast. My thoughts and prayers to his family. I will see you soon...Let the tape keep rollin'

Dear friends in Christ

I have only just heard the news of Larry's departure to be with the Lord.  His music was, over the years, a source of inspiration, challenge and comfort to me.  The song, "The Outlaw" was instrumental in my coming to Christ.

Sleep well Larry.

And to Larry's family, blessings and prayers.

I am saddened to hear of Larry's passing.  I was blessed to have met him on two occasions. First, when he permitted me to be photographed with him backstage during the halftime break in his concert in Hamilton Ontario. When he heard my brother was severely burned at work, he sent him encouragement and an autographed CD along with our pic waving to my bro.
The other time, he sang at my home church in Burlington Ontario and I asked him if he'd be willing to be in a picture with my infant son Derrik.  He readily agreed and when I looked through the camera, I was greeted with the sight of Larry praying a blessing on my son...he was so solemn and I believe that God indeed heard Larry's prayer because my son has not strayed from God even though life became tough for him in later years.
Now, even years before all that...I first accepted the Lord as my saviour in 1973 and it was directly because of the message of the song " I wish we'd all been ready". I am thankful to God that I had the opportunity to thank Larry personally for writing that song that God used to reach me as a 13 year old.
Say hi to my Dad, Larry and make sure you sing a few bars with him! :)
Blessings to all Larry's family and loved ones...especially his son!
ONE WAY...Jesus!!!
