I'm filling in my CD collection and was gifted with $75.00 in Amazon choices.  So, I've been beefing up my Larry Norman collection.  Home At Last just arrived.

It's a good Cd. Some of the mixing is a bit spotty, but all of the material is great.

Sitting In My Kitchen is one of my favorites.  Interesting that Charles played on it quite a bit.  Also, good to see Jon Linn.

The dates listed are 1986 and 1989.  Was it released before or after Stranded in Babylon?

There's an outstanding blues song on it.  Also, a Nightmare song with a kind of rap quality to it.

I got 'Home At Last' shortly after it was originally released. I had it on cassette and it was released by Benson. However, Solid Rock recent reissued it and I was curious if their CD was any different. I think the graveyard pic i'm looking for is inside the cover of the original issue.

To answer your question, this was originally scheduled to be released in 1986 but there were problems with Benson. Larry then recorded  'Somewhere Out There' in 1988 and 'Selah' in 1989 and included them on the album.. Also, 'Home At Last' is considered to be part 3 (although he released it first) in the second trilogy.....the first two are 'Stranded in Babylon' and 'Behind the Curtain'. Whereas the first trilogy focused on past present and future, this trilogy focuses on body soul and spirit.

I too think 'Home At Last' is an excellent album....definately underrated. Sometime i'll get it again, but for now i'm fairly content because most of the songs from it are on the Essentials collection that I have.

I know the bluebook of Larry's came out to coincide with this. Do you have the bluebook? It gives a lot of info and details about the Home At Last album. The songs on this were written over a long period of time; Lonely Boy (1956) to Selah (1989).

Hey Dog, Thanks for the info.  No I didn't know about the bluebook.  Let me know how I can get this.

I didn't know about a second triology.  Excellent.

There's some curious things about this CD.  He has a country song on it...about a rodeo girl.  It lasts 50 seconds and then fades out.  As an alt country fan, that's kind of strange...I wanted to hear the whole song...it was quite good.   The other was the remake of the song Oh How I Love You.  He has repeated songs on albums before...Maybe like a refrain.

Thanks for the info.

The graveyard photo is on this CD.   Really eerie in the light of current events.
