What an impact he had on me

It was with great surprise and sadness that I read of Larry's passing in the Oregonian. I grew up in the San Jose area and Larry had a huge impact on my life through high school and college, back in the early to mid 1980's. He and Randy Stonehill were my introduction to Christian Rock (then still in its youth). I bought most of his albums and his music and messages helped form my own relationship with God and how I related to him, which continues to this day. To be succinct: Larry took God off the revered pedestal and put Him on the ground next to me, where I could relate to Him and talk to Him on familiar territory.

I can't count the number of times I saw Larry in concert, including running lights for him when he played at the small Christian college I graduated from. Getting the opportunity to talk with him was a thrill. His concerts were always the highlight of the year. He was my music idol.

I am now more determined than ever to transfer those albums to CD so I can continue listening to his amazingly gifted and enduring music. Its a innovative and fresh today as it was when he first published it.

An era has passed. A pioneer now walks beyond our reach, but not out of our hearts or thoughts, and, yes, we will meet again.

God bless,
Cyndi
