Larry,

You were the first in Contemporary Christian Music. Your songs never pussyfooted, danced around issues, soft-shoed, or led anyone down a primrose path. You set the standard as to how contemporary gospel ought to sound, and no one made the same statements quite as boldly as you. And they rocked, while others played softly trying to keep favor with the churches.

As a musician, I learned the blues from you first before I was listening to anything else. That way I knew where to find hope in the music. Thanks, man.

People remember certain songs during the highs and lows of their lives. In difficult times I remember singing the diffcult songs - yours.

And the sense of humor..."I jumped into the river / tried to put myself away / a man jumped in and saved me / and spoiled a perfect day."

On behalf of those living outside of the U.S. while your music was being played, it was thrilling to hear such frank music coming from you - it made the walk with God so real.

I miss you.
