Larry Norman Message Board

Thanks to all the thousands of visitors we've had in the past 30 days.
The response has been overwhelming, and has meant a lot to
Larry's family and friends around the world.

Again, thanks for all the support and great memories...

I just wish I could be there in person for the memorial. Here's a couple of anecdotes for yr personal  and/or share with friends..

As I posted on the UK tribute site, the last time I heard from Larry was by Email in 2005..I was in Bali, Indonesia, arranging/hosting an arts conference approximately  3 weeks after a terrorist bombing.  All the tourists were leaving just as we were showing up..... I think the hotel, the local shopkeepers and the local believers were glad to see us. Larry was asking after my health, and wanted to know how I was doing. I was running on fumes (and Bintang) trying to oversee an international arts event by day, and cramming late at night for an  entrance exam to Fuller seminary.

Although our circles overlapped somewhat intermittently over the later years, I remain profoundly grateful for Larry and Randy Stonehill's generosity and enthusiasm re: what I was trying to do in music and art....it was their encouragement, emotional, spiritual and material support that brought me to USA in the first place from rainy 1970s England, seeking solace,  California sunshine and studio time  with  the then `emerging' Solid Rock.

There is no way of measuring the extent and range and depth of Larry's influence, both thru his own art...and also thru his empowering encouragement of others.........the last week has seen an outpouring of tributes from literally all over the world......from other artists, other listeners and learners..all the way up to Steve Turner's eloquent obit in the UK Guardian...... pretty awesome stuff!

Fonder memory from the 70s : Losing the coin toss at Street Level Offices on Holly wood BLVD and  going  across the street to stand in line for an hour and a half at Grauman's Chinese Theater in order to score a bunch of tickets for the opening of a new film by George Lucas called `Starwars.'
