i'm not a christian but, i cried when i found out about larrys death.
as a child i was forced, and i mean forced to attend church.so as a lover of music, i thought what has the church to offer,i discovered larry among others.
(out of darkness, joshua, liberation suite, the wall band etc)
i saw larry for the first time in 1977 and he blew me away, i followed the 81 uk tour (3 gigs) and had the pleasure to meet larry.
as i grew older (sorry but) i used my brain and decided there is no god!
feel free to pray for me.
who knows ?
i have always ( the net helps) followed larrys life, his music has always been special, i know larry had his faults dont we all, the secret of love is to forgive our faults and see the person.
i have recorded a tribute shoe for larry on my show
www.rock247online.co.uk thurs 6th march 10pm GMT (plus repeats)
my love to larrys family and fans
its a sad sad loss

I've just finished a novel, which was recommended to me by the pastor of a friend, as a work that had changed his life. I myself don't attend church, at least at the moment and haven't for years, though I grew up in the church and have been a Christian my whole life more or less, I guess. I was skeptical about the novel's impact myself at first, as I am want to be at times I suppose, but I read it and have to agree.

"The Shack" by William P. Young (the "shackbook.com" website has more info.) The main character's story seems similar to yours, and many of us in various ways, regarding forced religious attendance etc., disillusionment with Christianity. Coincidentally, a quote (and acknowledgement, as a creative influence) by Larry Norman, amongst others, is also mentioned. I'm also a fan of Bruce ****burn, who is also sited.

A novel about love, forgiveness, redemption, with a unique insight and perspective on Christianity and the Christian experience, I found. I've since bought several copies, and have been recommending it, as well.

I've really found Larry's music to be helpful also, and have listened to it a great deal, over the years along with other musicians.

I'll watch for the show too,
Thanks. God bless,
Carmie Y.

PapaDave
if you remember `out of darkness' that puts you in the UK christian/Youth For Christ scene around the late/end of 60s. My recall of Evangelastic youth culture from that time is that it was not very mind expanding!

You say you have used or are using your brain?? Then check out the lifework of another very great soul/mind recently passed on at the end of last year....Thomas F. Torrance. I'm not saying he'll `make you a believer' but he'll definitely expand/deepen your thinking. Google him, or check him out on Amazon.
Take care/Steve Scott

Just heard the web show, it was very nicely done. Is this a series (ie a new prog each Thurs) or was this a one off? Guess the latter, but wanted to know if I have to make sure I'm home every Thursday this month (wasn't quite sure whether the repeats mentioned on your site meant the same programme repeated or not!).

Nice to hear you play the 1977 tour items, it's one of the few CDs released in the last few years that I still need to get hold of. I sent a DAT tape to Larry a few years ago which included a BBC TV programme (audio only) that he remembered well, but I bet the BBC have long wiped. It featured Larry playing UFO, Up In Canada, and I Wish We'd All Been Ready; I wonder if anyone has the video for that programme still?

Well done Papadave.

Steve

thank you
this was to be a one off, but i have plans to do a similar show every month.
as sadly someone passes from this life every day, i would like to give them a good sent off, as i cannot give everyone a tribute show, i will do what i feel is suitable at the time.
the larry show will run all of march.
i also have a show on sundays 5-7pm gmt live on the first sunday of every month repeated that month.
your sure to hear some larry.
thanks again
for me its all about the music (and larry was one of the best)
