Maybe someone can help out here. I remember Larry speaking about his opinions on life after death at a concert, and it didn't seem to be the 'traditional' Christian opinion of entering Heaven as soon as you die. I don't know the name for this philosophy, but it had to do with a belief of sleeping in your grave until judgment day. Larry also mentioned it in a few songs....one that comes to mind is "Elvis Has Left The Building" where he sang "Elvis, I know where you are, you're sleeping in the ground. Will you rise and stand up when the son of man comes down". So does anyone know the name of this doctrine?

I understand that this is ancient Greek philosophy, and there are some references in Paul's letters that indicate that one sleeps until the Judgment Day ("We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.").  Yet, if one is just sleeping in the grave until Judgment Day, then who are the great clouds of witnesses that Hebrews talks about?  I have met some other Christians that believe this too.

It does not really matter, does it? The bible tells us God will make a new heaven and a new earth. Everyone who believes Jesus saves will live there. The bible is not very clear on how things will go. The letters of Paul tell us things which are hard to understand. On the other hand: look what Jesus says to the man who hung on the cross next to him. It looks like they will meet directly after leaving this planet.

I think it will stay a mystery to us untill things will happen. And don't forget God created everything, including what we call "time".  Maybe both theory's are true at the same time...

Well Larry also was saying this in his goodbye note: I'd like to push back the darkness with my bravest effort.

I thought, brother you're going to heaven, what is there to push back anymore?
But I could easely have misted the meaning of it because my knowledge of the English language isn't all that great.

I agree with Ton. In God's time and space this is not important. But talking to some people who are dying soon makes it always hard. Sometimes they want to know these things and are uncertain about it. But I think this is no discussion for this forum.

Larry is home! That is one thing I'm certain of.

Gerard.

In "Stop This Flight" he sang "I'll be risen from this prison at the end of the age."
