I once got a chance to meet Larry Norman.  It was a dream-come-true for a young teenage boy like me who was just starting to pay attention to the world. 

Having spent hours and hours and hours listening to his music, I hoped I could shake his hand someday. 

Larry Norman would never have wanted to be held up as an idol or a hero, but when you're a kid, trying to make sense of it all and there's this guy who writes and sings things that speak so deeply to your heart, you want to meet him and say "thanks" at the very least. 

It just so happened that I caught him outside, just before a concert in Minneapolis one night. He was very gracious and stopped to say "hello" to me, though I'm sure he was in a rush to get everything together before the show. That was really cool.

Even though this world was not his home and his work here is done, it's good to know that he had the same effect on thousands of other kids just like me before he left.
