I saw Larry in around 1986 at Knott's Berry Farm park in Buena Park, California.  Even though I had many of his records this was the only time I saw him in person.  The place was packed and it was one of the most blessed concerts I ever attended.

Here's a list of Memories...not sure on all of the years though:

Maranatha Village   Costa Mesa, California     1974
Pasadena Civic Auditorium     1975
Disneyland...California      1976
Bethany Baptist Church-Youth Rally--West Covina, Ca.   1976
Pasadena Civic Auditorium     1978 or 79---with Stonehill
Pasadena Civic     1980

These are some...my memories a blurr though

The Maranatha Village was quite a show.  So Long Ago The Garden was just released.  He was defending the record and putting to rest the rumors about him...."I asked around and found out they weren't true."  Also, he did the 'keep your record collection away from your plants and pets,' routine.  The most startling thing about the gig was he had People as his back up.  It was also held at a bookstore around the corner from Calvery Chapel Costa Mesa.  That was the only time I saw him with a band.

I saw larry 6-7 times since the early 1980's.  I had the pleasure to take my kids to see him for the first time on august 4th 2007 in ny city.  I believe it might have been his last concert on earth.  He signed about ten items for us that night.  When we were walking away he said to my daughter  "bye Hannah, thanks for comming.  I will never ever forget that moment.

I know Larry did a concert in or near Frankfurt, West Germany in 1981--in a Martha-not-Mary moment of mine, I did not attend but my military dormmate did and afterward the show, he went with Larry to a restaurant--the lucky duck!  And what's more, I was the one who had introduced my bud to Larry's music--and here I skipped out on a chance to see Larry and even enjoy a meal with him afterwards.  Well, I learned from my mistake.  I did get to see Larry in concert three times:  At a church along Rt. 3 in Glen Burnie, Maryland in either
'85 or '86, at a Salvation Army gym-like cinder-block meeting hall in Hyattsville, Maryland sometime between late '89 and '91, and at a comedy club in Greenbelt, Maryland in '92.  (Sorry to be a bit vague about two of those dates.)  And I have to say hearing my military friend--he was Air Force, I was Army--rave about seeing Larry and then having dinner with him in '81 forever changed my attitude toward attending concerts.  I resolved to get out and see my favorite artists whenever I could--and to stop thinking that, well, "next time" I would go to the concert.  And that attitude paid off for me in that I did go see Larry three times and have seen countless other artists over the years, including, incredibly, Jerusalem in November 1988 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania after a long day of outlet shopping with my wife.  She was a good shopper and seemed pleased with her finds, but it was nothing but a long day for me because it came after a very hard week at work and I would have perferred doing just about anything other than shopping and driving to and from the DC area. But as we started to drive back, I had WJTL on the radio and heard an ad for a Jerusalem/White Cross show at a high school that very evening.  I could not believe it, called the station, got directions to the school, and found it before Jerusalem got on stage--and happily, my wife was as supportive of this excursion as I had been of her shopping :)  It was a great show and I am glad I didn't wait for the "next time" as I don't think Jerusalem has returned to the States since that short tour in the autumn in late 1988.  I really do have Larry and his example to thank for that.

At the Sub Theatre in Edmonton, Canada in the late 80's  He was set to play with a full band but the band got stuck in a storm in the mountians, so it was just him and his guitar.  Thanks Larry for being such a "testimony" of God's Grace for is all!

Is saw Larry twice in the Netherlands, once in Gouda and once in Rotterdam. I'm not sure about the year, but I think in Gouda it was short before his heart attack. Was that in 1995? In Rotterdam it must have been 1998 or 1999. But he has performed a lot of times in The Netherlands in different places.

I saw Larry Norman at the Great America theme park in 1980....He played in one of there musical theaters indoors....it was up close and personal....Later as he was leaving the building out the side door he came to the front and talked with a number of people....I asked him a question I had about some statement that he would often make in his liner notes about wondering where someone or something was....the name was Ferion or something like that....He gave me a mysterious answer and didn't explain in further....

I also remember that he was selling and talking about two new records that he had just got pressed....he said there wasn't any album art for them as yet because they were so new, but wanted to share them with us all that day....I believe he was living close by at the time in San Jose....Great America is the next burb north of San Jose...called Santa Clara. Of course those two albums were Labor of Love & Letter of the Law....I think they never did get any cover art if I am correct....

I my memory serves me correctly that was the first & last time I saw Larry in concert and talked to him personally....I was 16 years old at the time....I can't remember if we shook hands or hugged, but I do remember being a bit nervous....I had fallen in love with his music 2 years prior and had at that time In Another Land (my very 1st Christian rock album) Only Visiting This Planet (Solid Rock version), (Almost) So Long Ago The Garden, Upon This Rock (Impact version), and Roll Away The Stone....All vinyl of course, being before CD's

Larry was special...It will be awesome to see and talk with him again.....minus the spots and wrinkles we both had down here....;)

I Love you brother Larry....!!!

Chuck

I saw him in a concert in West Berlin in June of 1981. He sang "I wish we'd all been ready" and a couple of other songs. The meeting was some kind of 2-day event called "Jesus Christ -- Hope for the 1980's" (can't remember the German version, sorry).

I just found out he had died. I feel like I've lost a friend. But I will still look forward to meeting him one day.

It's more like where hasn't Larry been? That would be the short list. Here's a shout out to Robb, as I also saw while him in the military. I don't remember when, but Bill Romansky was opening and/ or playing in the band. Bill had a single at the record table that I wish I'd bought but didn't. I think there was a song called Slaughter of the Innocents, but I may be confusing it with the Undercover song of that name. I think Larry was with the Young Lions, and I think some of this concert was on the Thirty Years video. I think it was in St. Charles Missouri (if there is one) but again, I may have that confused with seeing Daniel Band somewhere around there. Anyway, it was a great concert and I got to meet Larry afterwards. -Gord Wilson, gordrw@yahoo.com, alivingdog.com

I saw Larry several times in Marshalltown and Ames, Iowa in the mid 70's.  He was friends with the man that led the youth group in Marshalltown that sponsored most of the concerts.  I remember seeing him in concert in Des Moines around 1978, then I spent two hours with him at the airport the next morning waiting for his flight.  I also remember that he became most concerned when Randy Stonehill didn't show up for the flight (they had performed together the night before).  He asked me to wait at the gate (back in the 'good old days' when you could do that) for Randy to show up.  Randy came running up to the gate just as the jet pulled away from the ramp.  I waited with Randy until he got another flight.  It was the only time I saw Randy in concert.  But not my last time to see Larry.

I had the pleasure of meeting Larry twice. Once i was with my boyfriend, i was seventeen years old, and we snuck onto the stage - on the sidelines behind the curtain. Instead of having lots of security or ignoring us, Larry comes up to me and says "Hi, I'm Larry". I had been a Christian for 3 years and Larry was my hero...i wish i said something intelligent, but assume i didn't, but he was such a sweet gentleman. The next time i saw him, i was in my early 20's, and snuck (hmmm...i see a pattern here) back to hopefully say hi. He was in a back room with some people, and moved his leather jacket off a chair so i could sit and chat for a moment. Never once was i regarded as an annoyance, after all these years, i most likely wouldn't do it again, for fear of that - but i'm glad in my youth to have risked that, since i really love that man. I had a dream a week before he passed, and it was a very cool dream. Very colorful and i know that Larry lives...He is home now. I can't wait to see him again.

Cavern Club? Yes quite definitely people saw him there on the Tourniquet Tour in 2001, but sadly not me! That's not meant as a facetious comment, but I have a marvellous recording of the gig at home and the crowd loved him, Beatles' covers and all!

I've seen Larry perform live in the Netherlands in Assen, 1984, with the German band Pieces (have that on tape!), Drachten, with the Dutch band Thesis, where i helped organising the concert with others and he's been in many other places in the Netherlands like Leeuwarden, Elburg, Flevo Festival, etc, etc! He's been twice in Drachten, the last time he was there he had severe heartproblems afterwards and had to be taken to the hospital..

He also did a unique concert together with Andy Pratt in the Netherlands once. I couldn't make it to that concert.. , but have a tape of that one too. I have some nice pictures i shot myself from the concert in Drachten as well as a concertposter. I guess i should post them online somewhere and let you all enjoy them too..

I saw Larry a few times (and LOVED each one!!)

My first concert was in Tübingen, Germany in the court of the castle. It was the first time I saw him (my wonderful sister took me along) - I was about 13. That was around 1987.

Another time in the south of Germany - but I don't recall where exactly. It was a festival with Darrel Mansfield, Q-Stone,..

August 1994 I went up to Belfast from Dublin to see him in concert. There I heard that he was very ill. It almost broke my heart to see him in such a state on the stage with his guitar. But again - an amazing concert.

The last time was May 17th, 2007 in Wüstenrot, Germany at the Himmelfahrtfestival. I drove 4 hours to see him (and 4 hours back the next morning back in time for work..). I couldn't believe he was coming to Germany again and I would have driven even longer to see him.
What I saw was a man standing on the stage in the power of God. I think this was the most impressive concert in my whole life. Even more the interview afterwards (that took about 1,5hours instead of the sceduled 15min) smile

His music and his talking at the concerts had a great impact on my belief in God. He wasn't as "dumb" or plump (sorry) as other christians in his thinking. But he had wit and his ironic way of telling the truth spoke to me very much!

I thank God vor Larry's influence, words and music! I know He brought him into my life. smile

Miriam
