Praise to God in Christ for Larry

I just heard of Larry's going home. I wept for our loss, but rejoice that he was a brave realistic brother that kept fighting our fight for the pure truth in Jesus the Christ. His solid solos and music have encouraged my faith hundreds of times. I have prayed for him and do now for the f...

Larry's in my memories as a special person
(Preview)
I'm very sad to have heard that Larry is not among us no more. In summer of 1993 he visited Sweden for a concert in Sävsjö, where I live. I got the oppurtunity to be in the band and play base that time and it was one of the best experiences of my life - I would say "ONCE IN A LIFETIME" . A warm and beau...

I became first acquainted with Larry's music in 1976, entering my graduation year. Larry introduced me to the idea that being Christian and human were not mutually exclusive ideas, and that there was indeed no separation. I've met Larry a few times over the years. He was idiosyncratic, opinion...

Crying, for the first time in years

I met Larry Norman, briefly, when I ran spotlight for him when he played a small auditorium at my college, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, in the early 80's. Just him and his guitar and his heart. Tonight I heard of his passing, and it leaves me saddened. Yes, it is selfish, because I know that,...

I grew up in a very strict Christian home in Houston. The only music allowed was marching band music, hymns and southern gospel. Some time around 1978 a friend of mine came back from Southwestern A/G college with a 8-track mix tape, the first song was "Rock that Doesn't Roll". I was imme...

It's hard to know where to begin when thinking about what someone like Larry Norman means to a man of my age at this time in my life. Larry caught my eye like a shooting star when I was still just a kid in my mid-teens. It was a time when he was pioneering the use of rock music to communicate the message...

My first memories were of long-haired Jesus People sitting in a circle on my parents' floor, playing guitars, violins, tamborines, you name it - if it made a joyful noise, it was there. My father used to do the sound for concerts that came through my hometown in Kansas, and I got to know people like Larr...

Seriously influential music when I became a Christian in the late 70's and blasting (in my Bible College dorm!) "Something New Under the Son" surely had me labeled a heretic and a reprobate. Always wanted to one day ask Larry how Dudley Moore was the guest pianist on one of the early albums....
